Performance data: not yet available — measured tests come at launch. What's confirmed today is platform and handheld support; frame targets are unannounced.
Confirmed platform support
| Platform | Status |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Native release. Performance/quality modes TBC. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Native release; day one on Game Pass. Series S target TBC. |
| PC | Steam + Xbox on PC; Play Anywhere. See PC requirements. |
| Steam Deck | Handheld Optimized is confirmed as an Xbox designation — a strong signal it's built with handheld/low-power play in mind. Deck Verified status and settings TBC. |
What we'll test on day one
- Frame rate & modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — is there a 60fps performance mode, and how stable is it in dense combat?
- Series S — the usual question mark; resolution/frame trade-offs.
- Steam Deck — playable settings, battery life, and whether the "Handheld Optimized" badge translates to a genuinely smooth handheld experience.
- Load times & stutter — UE5 traversal stutter is the common failure point; we'll flag it if present.
Early expectation
Game Freak's director has stated the studio prioritizes the gameplay experience over visual fidelity — which often correlates with steadier performance and lower hardware demands than graphics-first UE5 titles. Encouraging, but unproven until we have the retail build in hand.
