Does Beast of Reincarnation have cross-save?

Between Xbox and the Microsoft Store PC version: yes — that pair shares one license and one save file through Play Anywhere. Between Steam and anything else: there is no official answer at all, and this page refuses to invent one.

Checked against the Xbox store listing and the developer's own support thread · 13 August 2026

The one confirmed path: Play Anywhere

Beast of Reincarnation is an Xbox Play Anywhere title — that is Microsoft's program label, used in the official announcement, not a fan claim. Under the program's own definition, buying the game once (or having it through Game Pass) covers both Xbox Series X|S and Windows, and your progress travels with you: the store listing includes "Xbox cloud saves", and achievements unlock on the shared Xbox profile regardless of which device you played on.

Practically, that means the commute pattern works out of the box: main a run on the console, continue the same file on a laptop, come back to the couch — no manual copying, no launcher settings. The sync is account-based, so the only real requirement is being signed in to the same Microsoft account on both machines.

The unanswered half: Steam

Whether a Steam save can move to or from the Xbox/Microsoft side is not addressed anywhere official. We looked in the places an answer would have to appear:

  • The Steam store page — no cross-save or cross-progression claim of any kind.
  • The developer's pinned Q&A/support thread on the Steam forums, posted by a Fictions staff account — it routes players to the official support site and Discord, and says nothing about saves crossing stores.
  • The official announcements — Play Anywhere is always described as an Xbox-and-Windows pairing, which by definition does not include Steam.

So the honest statement is: no official cross-save exists between Steam and Xbox as of 13 August 2026. Not "unconfirmed but probably" — there is simply no mechanism anyone official has described. If you have hours in a Steam file and are considering the console version, plan on starting over unless that changes.

Why this page will not hedge: several auto-generated wikis state flatly that all versions share saves. None of them cite anything. If the developer ever documents a Steam link, we will quote it with a date — until then, the claim has no source and we treat it as false.

What this means for choosing a store

You are…The save-smart choice
Playing on Xbox and a Windows PCMicrosoft Store / Game Pass version — one license, saves and achievements follow you
All-in on SteamSteam is fine — just know the file stays there
Undecided between PC storefrontsThe Microsoft Store version is the only one with a second device attached to it. Steam's advantages (its own ecosystem, family sharing, resale of your library at no… none of that applies here) are convenience, not portability
On PS5One platform, one save — cross-save is not part of the PS5 conversation for this game

What we could not verify

Two adjacent questions come up in the same searches, and we are marking both honestly. Steam Cloud within Steam (PC-to-PC sync of the Steam version): plausible and common, but we have not confirmed the store-page flag, so we do not state it. Save transfer for the PS5 version from any other platform: nothing official exists. Neither gap changes the headline — the only cross-device path anyone has documented is the Play Anywhere pairing.
