So far, only the protagonist's role has been officially matched to an actor: Emma is voiced by Yui Ishikawa. Yui Ishikawa as Emma — why it's a perfect fit

Emma is an 18-year-old Sealer traveling a Japan consumed by the corruption known as the Blight, accompanied by her dog companion Koo. According to the official character description shared with the cast reveal, she lives her life devoid of her past memories and emotions, and the journey with Koo is, in part, her path back toward understanding what feeling even is.

If you wanted to cast one actress for "quiet, burdened, emotionally muted — but with an ocean underneath," Yui Ishikawa is the first name on the list. Her 2B in NieR:Automata built an entire performance out of restraint punctured by devastating cracks; her Violet Evergarden is literally a character learning emotions from zero. Emma's premise sits squarely in that lane, and the casting is one of the clearest signals of the tone Game Freak is aiming for with its first original AAA action RPG — a long way from the studio's Pokémon roots.

The rest of the cast: voices you will recognize

Even without confirmed roles, the supporting names tell you something about the production's ambitions. Akio Otsuka is gaming royalty — the gravelly baritone of Solid Snake and Batou, and a near-automatic pick for grizzled mentors, commanders, and hulking bosses. Akira Ishida has spent three decades voicing enigmatic, unsettlingly calm characters like Evangelion's Kaworu. Rina Sato and Yu Kobayashi bring lead-caliber range to whatever supporting roles they land, and Satoshi Mikami is a familiar, composed presence from Sailor Moon Crystal and countless drama dubs. One fun coincidence: Sumire Morohoshi is best known for voicing a different Emma — the protagonist of The Promised Neverland. Does Koo have a voice actor?

Koo is a dog — a canine companion, not a talking mascot — so expect creature vocalizations rather than dialogue. Yes — Beast of Reincarnation ships with two full audio tracks: Japanese and English. The Steam store page lists full audio support for both languages, so you can play the original Japanese performances with English subtitles, or switch to the English dub. As of July 2026, however, the English cast has not been announced — no English actor names have appeared in any official material yet.

Both audio options apply across the release: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), including the day-one Game Pass Ultimate version. Since the game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, your language settings travel with the same save between Xbox and PC.
