Three encounters, two chapters
Our boss list gives Taurus three recorded appearances: two inside Chapter 4, the chapter titled Stems, at Level 26 and Level 29, and a rematch in Chapter 8 (Worm Food) with the boss at Level 44. That is the same double-then-return shape Rangifer uses, and our walkthrough groups the Chapter 4 pair into the mountain stretch of the campaign — Chapters 3 through 6 — which it describes as the run where new Nushi Skills arrive fastest.
The Chapter 8 return is worth planning for rather than stumbling into, because that chapter is busy: the same boss list places the first Kunai & Kirin encounter at Level 45 in Chapter 8 as well, one level above the Taurus rematch. Two apex fights inside one chapter, at effectively the same power level, with different weaknesses recorded for each.
Stand in the charge
The recorded tactic for Taurus is consistent across two of our pages and it is refreshingly specific. The boss list describes Taurus as a charger and says to parry the committed rushes rather than chase it; the walkthrough compresses that to parrying the committed charges. Both say the same thing: the attack that instinct tells you to run from is the attack the fight wants you to meet.
That is not bravado, it is economics. The Koo guide establishes that perfect blocks are the primary source of Florescence Points and that passive dodging starves Koo of fuel — if the dog feels absent in a fight, the prescribed fix is to parry more and dodge less. A boss built around long, committed rushes is therefore a boss built around large FP payouts, provided you hold your ground. Chasing a charger costs you the deflection and the resource in the same motion.
Spend what you bank the way the Koo guide recommends: on the Down Gauge rather than on cooldown. Every enemy carries that second meter alongside its health bar, filling from hits and clean parries, and firing an art as it nears the top converts a stagger into a stun window instead of a handful of ordinary hits.
The Acid problem
Taurus is recorded as weak to Acid on the boss list, and our review repeats the pairing, grouping Taurus with Ursa as the two Acid-weak bosses. That is the weakness; what it is not is a shopping list.
Our weapons page records only three enchantable elements in the launch build — Fire, Lightning and Wet — and it says plainly that the complete enemy-weakness chart and the exact elemental damage values were still being catalogued after release. Acid is not among the three. The boss list's own strategy note suggests acid arrows and bolts strip Taurus fastest, but no page on this site establishes how an acid property is applied to a weapon, whether it is an element slot, an ammunition type, or something carried by a Bloom Art. Until that is pinned down, treat the delivery method as not confirmed and check what your own ammunition and arts menus actually offer.
What the site does record on the acid side is Koo's. The Koo guide lists an acid-type art that hits a group and applies a status ailment among the Bloom Art effects observed in play, and the Nushi Skill Acid Burst Nobudou is a documented reward from Corvus in Chapter 7. That is three chapters after your first Taurus fight and one chapter before the rematch — so on the Chapter 8 return you may well have an acid option you did not have the first time.
The Botan line
The reward column lists the Nushi Skill Charging Botan, the art Botan: Chaser with a later second rank, and a Blade Art and Finisher in the Botan line. The Koo guide corroborates Charging Botan as the fourth Nushi Skill in the documented order, arriving from Taurus in Chapter 4.
Our walkthrough adds the detail that matters for planning: the Chapter 8 rematch at Level 44 is what completes the Botan art line. The upgrade to Botan: Chaser II is tied to beating the boss again rather than to a shop or a skill node, which makes the rematch a build milestone rather than a formality — the same pattern the boss list describes for Rangifer's Sakura: Javelin II.
Loadout notes
- Bank before you need it. The parry-into-FP loop on the Koo guide lets points carry between exchanges, so an aggressive phase you survive cleanly is an aggressive phase that pays.
- Stones that reward not being hit. The Spirit Stones guide lists Momentum, which boosts Emma and Koo's attack while Emma's health is full (5% to 10% across five levels) — a natural fit for a fight you intend to win by blocking rather than trading. Fortification raises Fortitude at the start of a battle for a defensive opening instead.
- Top up before Chapter 4. The Amber farming guide names Flower Field Tower in the Great Wall Terraces as a Chapter 3 sweep worth roughly 180 XP and 1,700 Amber, with enemies clustered near a campsite that makes it an easy fast-travel loop — the last named farming spot on this site before Taurus.
- Respec is available by now. The Cleanse Walker Communicator unlocks near the end of Chapter 2 per the Amber farming guide, so a stat spread that no longer suits a stand-your-ground fight can be redistributed for Amber.
How many players get this far
The achievement Taurus's End stands at 34.6% of Steam owners on our trophy page's August 31 read, and at 35.4% on the achievement tracker's September 7 refresh of the same source. Against Lacerta's 43–44%, that is another nine-point step down, and it is the last large one: the trophy page's reading of the ladder is that after Corvus the remaining fights all cluster between 24% and 25%, meaning almost everyone still playing at that point finishes.
Taurus is therefore roughly the last boss that meaningfully reduces the audience. If you clear it, the numbers say you are very likely to see the credits.
What this page does not claim
There is no tested attack table for Taurus on this site — the charge is the only move any of our pages names. We also cannot tell you how the Chapter 8 rematch differs beyond its level and its role in completing the Botan line, nor how acid damage is actually equipped. Where a delivery method is unconfirmed above, we have said so rather than filled the gap.
Taurus FAQ
How many times do you fight Taurus?
Three: twice in Chapter 4 at Level 26 and Level 29, then a Chapter 8 rematch at Level 44 that completes the Botan art line.
Should I dodge Taurus's charge?
Our boss list and walkthrough both say to parry the committed rushes instead of chasing or fleeing — the charge is where the fight's Florescence Point income comes from.
How do I apply Acid damage?
Not confirmed on this site. Acid is the recorded weakness, but the weapons page lists only Fire, Lightning and Wet as enchantable elements, so check your ammunition and Bloom Art menus in-game.
What does Taurus unlock?
Charging Botan as a Nushi Skill, Botan: Chaser and its second rank, and a Blade Art and Finisher in the Botan line.
