One fight, no rematch
Our boss list records a single Corvus encounter: Chapter 7, the chapter titled Root Rot, with the boss at Level 38. Several of the story bosses return at higher levels in later chapters; Corvus is not among them. Whatever you learn in that arena, you learn for one sitting.
Our walkthrough files Chapter 7 at the head of the stretch it calls the long west road — Chapters 7 through 10, which also contains the first Kunai & Kirin fight, the Koo-less Crimson Malefact wall, and Ursa. Corvus opens that run, and the level jump into it is steep: the last new boss before it, Taurus in Chapter 4, is listed at Level 26 on its first encounter, while the Taurus rematch in the neighbouring Chapter 8 sits at Level 44. Level 38 is where the game starts treating you as a finished player.
Lightning is equippable, and that matters
Corvus is recorded as weak to Lightning on the boss list — the same weakness as Lacerta back in Chapter 2, and one of only two weakness labels on the whole roster that correspond to an element our weapons page confirms you can actually enchant. The weapons page lists three elements in the shipped build (Fire, Lightning, Wet) and describes Lightning as applying Shock, fast and punchy status pressure. Arrows and bolts carry up to three elemental slots, so a ranged build can commit fully to the counter here rather than hedging.
The boss list adds the reason that is doubly attractive: Shock damage both exploits the weakness and feeds stagger pressure. That is the Down Gauge our glossary defines — the stun meter that fills from landed hits and clean parries, and which, once broken, opens a boss to heavy punishment. A counter that does damage and fills the stagger bar at the same time is the closest this game gets to a free lunch.
If you cleared Lacerta with a Shock setup and never went back to it, this is the fight to rebuild it for. The Lacerta guide covers the same element from the other end of the campaign.
The Acid Burst Nobudou payout
The reward column on the boss list gives Corvus the Nushi Skill Acid Burst Nobudou, the art Nobudou: Burst, and Blade Art: Nobudou, and the page describes that bundle as the most build-defining pickup in the second half of the game. Our Koo guide corroborates Acid Burst Nobudou as the fifth and last entry in the documented Nushi Skill unlock order, after Sakura Storm, Dokuzeri Shower, Chimeric Flow and Charging Botan.
The reason for the superlative is scheduling. Two bosses on the roster are recorded as weak to Acid — Taurus and Ursa — and Corvus sits between them. The boss list and the walkthrough both say the same thing in different words: this is the acid kit Ursa is waiting for, two chapters later in Chapter 10. The Taurus rematch in Chapter 8 falls in the same window. Beat Corvus and you are equipped for both of the Acid-weak fights that remain.
One caveat we will not paper over: our weapons page does not list Acid among the elements you can enchant onto a weapon, so what Corvus gives you is an acid ability line rather than confirmation that acid ammunition exists. How acid damage is delivered outside these arts is not confirmed anywhere on this site.
The point the funnel flattens
The achievement Corvus's End sits at 28.2% on our trophy page's August 31 read of Steam's global statistics, and at 29.2% on the achievement tracker's September 7 refresh.
What makes that number interesting is everything after it. The trophy page's own reading of the ladder is that the late-game cluster — Ursa, Shidou & Nue, Erymanth, Kunai & Kirin — all land between 24% and 25%, with the final-boss achievement at 24.0%. The gap between clearing Corvus and finishing the entire game is therefore about four points. The trophy page states the conclusion outright: nearly everyone who clears Chapter 7 finishes. Corvus is the last meaningful attrition point in Beast of Reincarnation.
Loadout notes
- Commit to Shock. This is one of the few fights where the recorded weakness and the confirmed equipment list agree, so there is no reason to hedge your element slots.
- Play for the Down Gauge. The Koo guide's spending rule — fire a Bloom Art as the gauge approaches full, not on cooldown — compounds with a weakness that already feeds stagger.
- Stones that pay for element-matching. The Spirit Stones guide lists Sharpshooter, which gives exploiting an elemental weakness with a ranged weapon a chance to restore 1 FP to Koo (a 20% to 30% recovery rate across three levels), and Entanglement Increase, where exploiting a weakness can restore both the Entanglement Gauge and Koo's FP at a 3% to 7% rate over five levels. Both are dead weight against a boss with no weakness; against Corvus they are working the whole fight.
- Six stone slots are not guaranteed yet. The same guide notes Emma equips up to four Spirit Stones in the early chapters, rising to six by the end of the game, without pinning the expansion to a chapter — so check your own slot count rather than planning a six-stone build on assumption.
What this page does not claim
No page on this site documents any individual Corvus attack, its phases, or its arena. We have its chapter, level, weakness, rewards and completion rate, and the general combat framework that applies to every large Malefact — nothing more. We also have not established what kind of creature Corvus is; the name appears only in the roster tables, and we are not going to infer a shape from it.
Corvus FAQ
Where is Corvus?
Chapter 7, the chapter titled Root Rot, as a single encounter with the boss listed at Level 38. There is no later rematch anywhere on the roster.
What is Corvus weak to?
Lightning, per our boss list. Lightning applies Shock and is one of the three elements confirmed enchantable in the shipped build, so the counter is fully equippable.
Is Corvus's reward really that important?
The boss list calls Acid Burst Nobudou the most build-defining pickup in the back half of the game, because two of the remaining bosses — the Taurus rematch and Ursa — are recorded as weak to Acid.
Does the game get easier after Corvus?
Statistically, the drop-off stops. Every later boss achievement sits between 24% and 25% against Corvus's 28–29%, which our trophy page reads as almost everyone who clears Chapter 7 going on to finish.
