Characters & story
Emma
Emma is the game's protagonist, a Sealer whose job is to hunt down and absorb the Blight from corrupted creatures — even though she's afflicted by the same corruption herself. She fights with Sekiro-style parry combat and travels with her companion Koo. Her combat basics are covered in the beginner guide.
Koo
Koo is Emma's withered wolf companion and the second half of the combat system — a command-based ally whose Bloom Arts are fueled by Florescence Points (FP) earned from clean parries. The full loop is explained in the Koo guide.
Nushi
Nushi is the in-world name for the eleven apex Malefacts that each rule a region — the game's main story bosses. Sealing a Nushi grants Emma and Koo its power and unlocks a new Nushi Skill. See the full boss list for all eleven.
Malefact
A Malefact is any creature fully consumed by the Blight. The region-ruling Malefacts are the Nushi bosses; lesser Malefacts appear as enemies throughout the Blighted Forests. Explained on The Blight, Explained.
Blight
The Blight is the corrupting force that has overrun post-apocalyptic Japan in the game's setting, tying together its bosses, dungeons, gear, and Emma's own condition. The full mechanical breakdown is on The Blight, Explained.
Blighted Forest
A Blighted Forest is a corrupted dungeon spawned directly by the Malefact that rules its region — clearing it leads to that region's boss fight. Covered alongside the corruption mechanic on The Blight, Explained.
Sealer
Sealer is Emma's role in the story: someone who absorbs the Blight from other creatures into her own body, at the cost of being slowly consumed by it herself. Story context is on The Blight, Explained.
Currencies & items
Amber
Amber is the game's main currency, used to buy items from Brad and wandering merchants, enhance weapons at the Workbench, and reset skill points once the Cleanse Walker Communicator is unlocked. The four repeatable income sources are covered in the Amber farming guide.
Skill Amber
Skill Ambers are a separate equippable item type tied to Koo's own growth line — don't confuse them with regular Amber currency, since a route optimized for one won't necessarily help the other. The distinction is explained on the Spirit Stones guide.
Spirit Stones
Spirit Stones are equippable collectibles that grant Emma extra stats and triggered passive effects — she can equip up to 4 in the early chapters, rising to 6 by the end of the game. The full effect table is on the Spirit Stones guide.
Oni's Hat
Oni's Hat is a cosmetic headpiece for Emma bundled with the Digital Deluxe Edition, alongside the Big Dipper sword, two alternate Shiba skins for Koo, 100,000 Amber, and vegetable seedlings. Full contents on the editions guide.
Big Dipper
Big Dipper is the bonus katana bundled with the Digital Deluxe Edition — one of the few edition perks that's a functional weapon rather than a pure cosmetic. See editions and all weapons.
Cleanse Walker
The Cleanse Walker is a hub location that unlocks near the end of Chapter 2, home to the Workbench for weapon enhancement, Spirit Stone duplication, and the merchant Brad. Every service, the unlock timing and the spending order are on the Cleanse Walker guide; it is also referenced throughout the Spirit Stones and Amber farming guides.
Brad
Brad is the merchant stationed at the Cleanse Walker who buys and sells Spirit Stones, recipes, and manuals for Amber. See the sell-or-keep guidance on the Spirit Stones guide.
Combat systems
FP (Florescence Points)
FP, short for Florescence Points, is the resource Emma banks from clean parries and Koo spends through his command menu on Bloom Arts. The full parry-bank-spend loop is on the Koo guide.
Bloom Arts
Bloom Arts are Koo's FP-fueled abilities, chosen from a command menu that slows the action without fully pausing it. The full ability breakdown is on the Koo guide.
Down Gauge
The Down Gauge is a stun meter that fills as you land hits and clean parries on an enemy; breaking it opens a boss to heavy punishment, or lets you execute lesser Malefacts outright. Explained in the boss combat loop and alongside the other two meters on the combat gauges guide.
Entanglement Gauge
The Entanglement Gauge is Emma's own special meter, filled by certain parries, dodges, and Spirit Stone effects; filling all seven segments lets her trigger Entanglement Overdrive. See the combat gauges guide, the Koo guide and the Spirit Stones guide.
Entanglement Overdrive
Entanglement Overdrive is a slow-time burst window Emma can trigger once her Entanglement Gauge is full — one of the safest ways to break open a stubborn boss. Mentioned in the bosses guide and compared with Koo’s command menu on the combat gauges guide.
Vigor
Vigor is a combat stat that several Spirit Stones (like Onslaught) boost at the start of battle. See the effect table on the Spirit Stones guide.
Fortitude
Fortitude is a defense-boosting stat raised by Spirit Stones such as Fortification and Well of Fortitude. Full numbers on the Spirit Stones guide.
Nushi Skill
A Nushi Skill is a new ability Emma and Koo unlock by sealing a region's apex Malefact — part of the reward structure covered on the full boss list. All five named Nushi Skills and their unlock order are on the Nushi Skills guide.
Blade Art
Blade Art is another category of ability unlocked from boss fights, alongside Nushi Skills. See which boss unlocks which on the boss list and the Nushi Skills guide.
Bosses & progression
Rangifer
Rangifer is the deer-shaped Nushi of Chapter 1 and the campaign's first major wall, weak to Flame and unlocking the Sakura Storm Nushi Skill. Levels, rewards and prep are on the Rangifer guide.
Lacerta
Lacerta is the Chapter 2 boss fought twice back to back, weak to Lightning, with a poisonous second phase and the Dokuzeri arts as its reward. Details are on the Lacerta guide.
Taurus
Taurus is the charging Nushi fought twice in Chapter 4 and again in Chapter 8, weak to Acid, and the source of the Charging Botan line. See the Taurus guide.
Corvus
Corvus is the single Chapter 7 encounter, weak to Lightning, and the boss that grants Acid Burst Nobudou — the acid kit the late game expects. See the Corvus guide.
Kunai & Kirin
Kunai & Kirin is the roster's second dual encounter, met in Chapter 8 and resolved in Chapter 12 for Blade Art: Thunder. Full notes are on the Kunai & Kirin guide.
Ursa
Ursa is the Chapter 10 boss, weak to Acid, and the intended target for the Nobudou arts taken from Corvus. See the Ursa guide.
Erymanth
Erymanth is the Chapter 12 boss and the only entry on the roster recorded as weak to Explosive. See the Erymanth guide.
Beast of Reincarnation (final boss)
The Beast of Reincarnation is the Chapter 13 finale, the one boss with no recorded elemental weakness, and the start of the three-achievement ending chain. See the final boss guide.
Crimson Malefact
Crimson Malefact is the Chapter 9 story-wall boss — an Emma-alone fight without Koo. Its elemental weakness is unconfirmed: this site's boss list lists Water, but Game8's tested attack breakdown reports none. Attack patterns and strategy are on the Crimson Malefact guide.
Shidou & Nue
Shidou & Nue is a dual boss encounter fought across Chapters 3, 6, and 11, weak to Poison and unlocking the Chimeric Flow Nushi Skill. Full strategy is on the Shidou & Nue guide.
Chapters
The campaign runs across roughly 13 chapters in a fixed story order, not an open world. The full chapter-by-chapter route is on the walkthrough.
New Game Plus (NG+)
New Game Plus is the mode that unlocks after the single canonical main-story ending — there is no verified branching or hidden true ending. The completion requirement and what is known about carry-over are on the New Game Plus guide; story details are on the endings guide.
Achievements & trophies
Beast of Reincarnation has 46 achievements on Steam, with matching trophy and Xbox lists. Live global unlock rates are tracked on the trophies guide.
Editions & practical info
Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition is the premium version of the game, adding Oni's Hat, two Shiba skins for Koo, the Big Dipper sword, 100,000 Amber, and vegetable seedlings on top of the base game. Full price and content comparison is on the editions guide.
Game Pass
Beast of Reincarnation is available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass from day one, letting subscribers play without buying the game outright. Details are on the Game Pass guide.
Difficulty options
How demanding the Sekiro-style parry combat is, the confirmed difficulty settings, and the systems that soften the challenge are all covered on the difficulty guide.
World structure ("open world")
Despite its scale, Beast of Reincarnation is not an open world — it's built as a chain of district-style stage levels running east to west across a ruined Japan. See Is Beast of Reincarnation Open World?
Metacritic score
The game's review aggregate sits at Metacritic 72 from 63 critics, with a lower 6.1 user score — a split explained on the Metacritic guide.
